This week we come to Article 5: Creation and Divine Providence. Now we shift to the work of God in creating everything and purpose along with it. In the process, I believe that we also learn about our God, the creator of the universe. In the work of creation, we see the artistic beauty as well as the engineered function of it all.
Psalm 19:1-6 declares that "The heavens are telling the glory of God; and the firmament proclaims his handiwork." When we observe creation, we also learn about its creator. Likewise, within this poetry we read of the artistic beauty that we witness within creation as well as the precise engineering of things like the sun and our path around it.
Likewise, Isaiah 45:11-12 proclaims the word of the Lord, "I made the earth, and created humankind upon it; it was my hands that stretched out the heavens..." The Lord God is the one that made all that is around us, each one of us, and designed everything to work together. We can't fully know or understand how it is that God brought this all about, but we do know the one who did it.
Within all of this, we see God's divine purposes. We see that God is above and in control of all that happens in creation. We also see God's work of preserving and renewing humanity to bring about our redemption. God is the creator of all, the artistic engineer.
