During the months of September and October, we have focused on our identity as Anabaptist minded Christians. In our worship services, the sermons have been based on Palmer Becker's outline from his Missio Dei booklet entitled "What is an Anabaptist Christian?" He says that for Anabaptist minded Christians: Jesus is the center of our faith. Community is the center of our lives. And Reconciliation is the center of our work. We have looked at these core values, some related scripture passages, and some stories from the Martyr's Mirror.
Additionally, those who have been participating in the Wednesday night book study have been reading John Roth's book Stories: How Mennonites Came to Be. As we have reflected on what Roth offers about Mennonite history, we have been considering together what that means for us today as Anabaptist Christians.
What does being an Anabaptist Christian mean to you? Is this significant to your identity and if so, why? If not, why not?
