Pastor's Log - Sabbatical Date: 2-1-28 - 22:00
(A recap of the last week of June)
This week, our oldest is away at church camp at Camp Luz, so we are down one. But in his place, we are hosting Noah, the son of one of our Bluffton friends and according to Josiah, his brother. Monday morning, I worked out and watered the garden. I also spent some time catching up on my blog while the kids all played together.
We left a little after 3:30PM to go to the Columbus Zoo and had a beautiful evening. The weather was perfect and it wasn't very crowded. We stopped at a McDonald's with a Play-land on the way home for supper and a chance for the kids to play. They had a blast.
Tuesday morning, I got up early and worked out. Then I spent some time puttering in the yard, watering the garden and weeding while it was still cool out. I spent some time organizing the porch and the garage in the afternoon. We had pizza for supper, this is a food that Noah usually doesn't get to enjoy due to his sister's allergies.
That night, we went up to the Drive-in north of Kenton to watch Brave. After that, we settled the kids down and Beth and I stayed to watch The Avengers. We had both already seen it but not together. We each enjoyed it, plus it was already paid for so why not stick around for it, right? Thankfully the kids fell asleep quickly.
I slept in Wed morning; but when I got up, I watered our community garden plot as part of a run that I took. Then I watered our garden in the back and did another half an hour work out. I finished the book Divergent and he had a fire in the back yard. We made s'mores.
Thursday morning, Beth took Noah and Josiah down to Onion Creek for some water fun and relief from the heat. I stayed at home with Silas. While he was down for his nap, Randy Keeler came with his pop-up camper in tow for us to borrow for our camping trip. He helped me set it up and then when Beth returned, he and I went for lunch. I am very fortunate it to have had Randy as a mentor and a friend for seventeen years now. Maggie got back from her over night with her friend and then in the midst of the blazing heat, I packed the van for us to go to family camp at Luz for the weekend. We drove to Orrville and dropped Noah off at home. We stayed to have some watermelon with them before going to spend the night with a friend of Noah's parents, Miss Bev. Since we have to pick our oldest up from camp at 9:30am, this is saving us a very early morning drive.
