Family Camp, Luz Edition

Pastor's Log - Sabbatical Date: 2-2-1 - 20:00

Friday morning, we got up at Miss Bev's and got ready to go.  We went to Camp Luz and picked Elam up from his week of church camp.  From there, we went to Wendy's for lunch.  We had time to kill in the area between picking Elam up from his week of camp and checking in for our weekend of family camp so we did some of the touristy things in the area.  We went to P. Graham Dunn, a bulk food store and Heini's Cheese where we ate a lot of cheese samples.  We returned to camp around 5 to settle in and have supper.

That evening, we had worship together.  Todd Martin, a fellow Ohio Conference pastor, was serving as the camp pastor for the weekend.  He spoke about Noah.  To go along with this, he had a large ark brought into the chapel.  He had used it for a sermon series on Noah that he had done at his church.  He also taught us how to play the nose flute and gave nose flutes out as prizes during the weekend.  My oldest is quite good at it.

Saturday consisted of breakfast, worship and some activities and free time.  After lunch was nap time which was followed by water games and the pool time.  We had supper which was followed by more games and a movie.  That night after the kids were in bed we had a surprise visit from some old college friends that we hadn't seen in a while who live in the area.  They saw on Facebook that we were at Luz for the weekend so they stopped by to chat for a bit.

Sunday morning, Elam and I went for a polar bear swim in the pool.  We had breakfast followed by worship and some free time to pack.   During the packing time, our kids were preoccupied with playing a live version of Angry Birds that was pretty impressive.   After lunch, we got the last of our stuff out of our cabin and then took advantage of one last chance to swim before loading up and driving home.  It was fun to have the weekend to be together as a family and to spend some time with my parents who also attended.
