"When the Writings on the Wall, Beware the Fall" sermon preview

As we continue in our Chronological journey through the Bible, we return to Daniel this week.  And one of the stories recounted in Daniel is that of the handwriting on the wall, "Mene Mene Tekel Parsin."  These words were mysteriously written on the wall before King Belshazzar's very eyes.  And though he did not know what they meant, they caused him to turn pale with fear.

From this, we see a number of lessons that apply to us yet today.  First is that Pride comes before the fall. As God's people we are to be humble not prideful.  Second is that we need to follow God and stand tall.  Daniel was faithful to God and when called upon by the king he came and spoke to the king on behalf of God, whether or not there was a reward involved.  And third, the writings on the wall.  So often, we cry out to God for a sign or for direction when it is right before our very eyes if we would stop to look.  Other times, the signs are there; but we need someone like Daniel to help us to interpret these signs.  But in the case of King Belshazzar when the writing was on the wall, it was for him to beware the fall.
