The One Year Chronological Bible - Week 41 Reflection Questions

Week 41 (Oct 5-11): ??

As you read through these passages of the Bible, reflect upon these questions individually, through journaling, in pairs, or in small groups...

1. (10/5)In Luke 8:1-3 we read of Jesus traveling and sharing the good news of the kingdom.  His disciples were with him as well as women whom Jesus had healed and were supporting Jesus out of their own means.  What is the significance of mentioning this here.  How does it inform us today?
2. In Mark 3:20-30 we read of a family intervention.  Jesus' family believed that he was out of his mind and they went to take charge of him.  Do you think that you would have felt any differently were Jesus your family member?  If so, why?  Think of a time in which you believed you were acting for the good of someone, only to later realize that they were acting out of the will of God.
3. In Mark 3:28, Jesus says, "Truly I tell you people can be forgiven all their sins and every slander they utter, but whoever blasphemes against the Holy Spirit will never be forgiven; they are guilty of an eternal sin."  What does it mean to "blaspheme against the Holy Spirit?"  Why is this an eternal sin?
4. In both Mark and Matthew, Jesus teaches about how a house divided against itself cannot stand.  This concept was famously used by Abraham Lincoln in regards to the Civil War.  Was that an appropriate use of this passage?  Why or why not?
5.

May the Lord bless and shape us through our individual reading and corporate study of His word this year.
