"Ezekiel's Example" sermon preview

This week we return to our journey through the Chronological Bible this year.  Our focus will be on Ezekiel and his prophetic example.  Within his works are examples of how we are called to live out our Christian faith.

Ezekiel models at least three jobs that we too are called to.  First we have a job to share the gospel message with people that we encounter.  Ezekiel was given a message to share and his job was to share it.  Whether the message was accepted or not was not to be Ezekiel's concern.  His concern was to share it, to speak.

Second, we have the job to model the way of Jesus.  Ezekiel was called to act in some pretty peculiar ways, but it was always for a purpose.  Ezekiel's actions were to demonstrate a lesson to the people.  He was called to act and we are too.

Third, we have the job to be among the people.  Ezekiel did not remain in some far off place sending messages to the people of Israel.  He did not sit with the king alone to communicate the word of the LORD.  Much of Ezekiel's ministry was in the presence of the people.  Ezekiel was called to dwell among the people and we are too.  May God help us as we speak, act and dwell.
