The One Year Chronological Bible - Week 35 Reflection Questions

Week 35 (Aug 24-30): Jeremiah 32:1-33:26; 39:2-44:30; 52:6-27; Ezekiel 26:1-28:26; 2 Kings 25:3-26; 2 Chronicles 36:15-21; Lamentations 1:1-5:22; Obadiah 1:1-21

As you read through these passages of the Bible, reflect upon these questions individually, through journaling, in pairs, or in small groups...

1. (8/24) In Jeremiah 32, the Lord had the prophet buy property though the destruction of Jerusalem was imminent.  What message did this action have for the people of Israel?  What message might it have for us yet today?
2. Jeremiah receives the words of impending destruction, but he also receives words of hope beyond the destruction.  When was a time in your life that you knew that trouble was coming?  Were there ways in which you also received God's promise to be with you and bring your through that calamity?  If so, what did that look like?  If not, are you able to look back and name the ways that God remained with you?  What did this look like for you?
3. In Jeremiah 33, the Lord describes the peace and prosperity that Israel and Judah will have after going through this dark and difficult time. What are other examples of this within scripture?  What are examples of this in your own life?
4. Memorize Jeremiah 33:11b "Give thanks to the LORD Almighty, for the LORD is good; his love endures forever."  Incorporate this into your prayer life.
5. In Jeremiah 33:19-22, the word of the LORD suggests the only way that his covenant with David and the Levitical priests may be undone.  What is the real message here?  Why was this so significant for Israel and Judah?  What bearing does this have on us today?
6.

May the Lord bless and shape us through our individual reading and corporate study of His word this year.
