Week 25 (June 15-21): 2 Kings 2:1-25, 4:1-15:15, 2 Chronicles 21:8-26:21, Jonah, Amos 1:1-6:14
As
you read through these passages of the Bible, reflect upon these
questions individually, through journaling, in pairs, or in small
groups...
1. (6/15) In 2 Kings 2: 1-18, the LORD sent Elijah to several places before he was taken up into heaven. Each time, he instructed Elisha to stay put but Elisha chose to follow. What was the significance of this?
2. As Elijah and Elisha went from town to town, the prophets of the towns came to Elisha and asked if he knew that the LORD was going to take Elijah away that day. Elisha replied, "Yes, I know, so be quiet." Why did Elisha tell them all to be quiet?
3. When Elijah crossed the Jordan, he rolled up his cloak and struck the water. The water parted and they crossed on dry ground. Where else have we read this in the history of the Israelites? What is the significance of Elijah and Elisha crossing the Jordan in this way?
4.
May the Lord bless and shape us through our individual reading and corporate study of His word this year.
