The One Year Chronological Bible - Week 27 Reflection Questions

Week 27 (June 29-July 5): Isaiah 1:21-5:30, 13:1-16:14, 2 Kings 16:19-20, 2 Chronicles 28:26-31:21, Prov. 25:1-31:31, Psalms 42-49, 84-85, 87

As you read through these passages of the Bible, reflect upon these questions individually, through journaling, in pairs, or in small groups...

1. (6/29) In Isaiah 1:21-31, the prophet brought charges against Jerusalem.  What were the charges?  What charges might be brought against us today?
2. In Isaiah 2, the prophet offers a vision of the last days.  What is the significance of this vision for us today?  Knowing that this is how it will be, in ways does this influence us in how we should be living out our faith today?
3. Isaiah suggests that they will beat their swords into plowshares and their spears into pruning hooks.  What might be the modern equivalent of these metaphors?
4. Isaiah 2 focuses quite a bit on human pride and the need to be humbled.  Is this true of us today?  If so, what are modern day examples of our human pride and our need for humility.  How might we grow in our stance of humility?
5. Isaiah 6:22 declares, "Stop trusting in mere humans, who have but a breath in their nostrils.  Why hold them in esteem?"  Do we trust too much in mere humans?  Do we hold people in too high of esteem?  If so, what are examples of this?  How do we create balance in our need for leadership and the esteem in which we hold our leaders?
6. In Isaiah 3:6, the prophet suggests that youths will be their officials, children will rule over them.  Where do we read echoes of this in the New Testament?
7.

May the Lord bless and shape us through our individual reading and corporate study of His word this year.
