On Saturday, my oldest two and I went to the Lion's Park for some soccer training for coaches and their players sponsored by the
West Liberty Soccer Association. Afterward, I puttered around the house for awhile. That afternoon, we attended a wedding and my oldest discovered his newest obsession,
Kan Jam. It felt really good to reconnect with a number of people from Bethel after being away for most of the summer. The weather was perfect and the party favors were fun, jars with jam or spices to take home.

Sunday, we went to church at the
United Methodist Church across the street and got mugged (they give their visitors a mug with the church logo on it.) In the afternoon, I read and worked in the gardens. For supper we had fried foods (breaded hot dogs, cheese, pickles, mushrooms, and corn nuggets). We watched the movie,
The Borrowers, as a family. After the kids were in bed, Beth and I watched
Breaking Dawn, Part 1.

Since Monday was the kids last day of freedom before school and the weather was so perfect, we decided to head to Columbus and go to the
zoo. My parents met us there and we even bumped into Beth's brother with our niece. The kids had fun seeing the animals. My oldest even fed a bird on his wrist, but they also liked riding the carousel. We got home in time to have supper and go to the school open house to kick off the new year. That evening we readied the kid's stuff to start school Tuesday morning.
